At the start of 2005 I volunteered to become the webmaster of the society’s website. The site hadn’t been updated in quite some time and it could do with a redesign. Many weeks of hard work followed. Of course it was many more than I had ever foreseen. The launch was planned on the annual weekend, but far less people were interested than I had imagined and I had already anticipated that not everyone’s as geeky as I am.
Not to worry, it’s my pet project now and I can put in as much effort as I like. I can experiment with all kinds of software and functionalities and generally have more fun than most visitors can ever imagine.
One thing I forgot about being a webmaster, is the fact that you’re also a kind of helpdesk and questions are sent that I thought were so obvious that no explanation was necessary.
